well, a barrack is a sort of a hut. i am almost quite positivitaly sure that a barrack has no real conformity as to what shape, size or material it is. but i am quite sure that a barrack can be considered a sort of hut and a hut can be considered a sort of barrack. in some countries, a hut is a barrack simply because huts are used for barracks and sometimes barracks are used as huts. its not that they do not have barracks, its just that they only have huts. a barrack can be anything if you think of it...as so could a hut.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

Neo's idea was that
Elites -> Barracks
Troops -> Homes (they don't have special quarters)
Workers -> Tents
It makes sense if you think about it. IRL, barracks house a [fixed number of] troops, not produce them. And common soldiers live in their own homes, as they have from antiquity until today (except in time of war).

While warring they live in a camp. But imagine that each turn is one month, which is realistic. Wars take up very little overall time, and in the meanwhile their homes are just empty (I mean, excepting wives). And troops are trained to build their own temporary camps anyway. So I don't see an issue there.

soldiers live in barracks even in times of peace!

Kraken shut up. *laughs*.
Barracks never made much sense to me. It's a way to house troops, not a training facility. Neo is correct that the majority of societies in antiquity had their soldiers at home except when fighting, because they tended to be farmer-soldiers. But Elites coming from or living in barracks? Just doesn't make sense to me. 1) I'm not even sure what an Elite is supposed to be. An ubersoldier? Special Ops? What? None of those really existed back then, because battles were fought head to head and rarely involved the civilian population, so the only thing really done were raids on the supply train. I still like spies better overall.
@) Why barracks? I understand homes and tents, but barracks? When they existed they were used for housing troops garrisoning a city. Huts does't work either of course. But you're bright people. There's got to be a better name.

What you guys think about like priests or shaman, or something like that coming from monasteries or churches?
BTW Kraken you have a typo in your profile, it should read "I have vd" not I have id."
Out of curiosity, is the new avatar a reference to you being a cheesehead or am I reading that wrong.
