Because frankly, an officer's uniform that's a one-piece brown tracksuit rather than a simple matching suit and trousers, with tie or bowtie (depending on occasion), and medal decorations isn't even worth mentioning. No ceremonial weapons either.
Not to mention that you may wear officer's uniform to a wedding if you are not the groom or best man. Otherwise, you are expected to wear a suit with off-color waistcoat (else it's too much like a business suit) and necktie -- although traditionalists will favor an Ascot -- or bow tie. And of course ceremonial handkerchief.
Oh well.
