I wouldn't mind if someone of high caliber came in and started playing against the guidelines. I'd just get a couple of people to pound 'em especially if they were all in a clan. Then that leaves the possibility of it turning into a slower BFR. If someone sees one person do it, they'll be inclined to do it as well. Especially if it is a recognizable player with a high status here. Oh, he's doing it, so it must be ok. And with gondor, there's not much to worry about.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

I think what he's saying is the guidlines are enforced by player's actions, not code changes or Admin interference. So if a player was a n00b and broke the guidelines the rest of the playerbase should administer justice in whatever way they saw fit, via in game actions.
If a good player breaks the guidelines, and was able to beat back the ensuing retals by the rest of the playerbase, then Admins would do nothing about it.
I guess you could say "The Sheriff won't stop it but he would ceartainly encourage vigilante justice for it"
</$.02>
EDIT: Nuke has no intentions of messing with the guidelines.

I know the voices in my head arn't real but they usually have some pretty good ideas.

Yea, I was just going off on a domino theory rant. One breaks the guidelines. Another sees it. They break the guidelines, etc., etc. Although I don't know if a single person could take on me and Rudder at once, with others who wish to see the guidelines upheld.
Nuke: We know your secret agenda.

Well, we can't use admin action to stop it, but we can order people to stop it, and I believe in the name of adminship, since we're representing the community.
Nuke, I didn't think you were planning too. I was just using you as an example of a good player.

You misunderstand, Ruddertail. I'd try to stop him just as much as anyone. But suppose we can't? I wouldn't use admin actions.
[edit] Ah yes, spotted Nuke's post.\
[edit] And I guess this is largely a theoretical issue, but NOT in the name of adminship. I guess what I'd say to a guideline-breaker would be: "Please stop because the players enforce these guidelines." and not "Please stop because we are admins and we enforce these guidelines." Hope that's clear.

Ah, I see what you mean. No, I wouldn't use admin action either. Of course, if there was a situation in which players started leaving because this guy was making life miserable... well, I suppose he'd leave just as soon as the player base got too small, and then people would come back...
No, I don't, by any means, talk in the name of admins. I say something to the affect of "Please remember to comply with the WOA guidelines". In this case, he said the rules were stupid, and I said. "It doesn't matter" and citied my sig. Probably not a very diplomatic way to handle it, but that doesn't excuse him, either.

1 - I'm on Saro's clan but I'm following the guidelines (I only hit people more than 7 times a day when I'm attacked more than 7 times a day, so far so good)
2 - My friend Struts went on Vacation and is having the same problems of Musashi. Can someone help him?
3 - Janos, I completed the translation of the error messages, but I'm stupid. I thought I sent the file to you, and then I just wiped it from my machine. Now I didn't send the file, and can't recover it (I tried Active Undelete, no success). I'll have to do it again, so please be nice
4 - I'll also move to Atlanta soon, so everything will be messed for a while, please don't destroy my empire while I'm away from the game *laughs*!

Ruddertail, we all know YOU and the rest of you fellow admins made the rules up. We should at least have a "suggestions for guidelines" topic and start them again but this time players make the rules up. Also as for assulting an "admin" and stuff do you think you own it or something becausr you are always going on about being an admin (admin this admin that admin the other).

Read before you rant, please. Any appropriate suggestions made in THAT topic will be taken into account.
The whole point of the WOA Treaty topic is to revise and create a new set of SUGGESTED guidelines with input from the players.
[edit] In addition, keep in mind these are only suggested guidelines. You don't have to follow them. You do anger some people by breaking them, and possibly face retribution from multiple players, but you nonetheless can do as you please.
[edit^2] Just as you have the right to break the guidelines, people have the right to punish you for not following the guidelines if they see you breaking them. If you feel that is unfair... tough. People banding together is part of the game. The point of the WOA server is for a slower-paced game where economics, planning, and diplomacy play a more important role. We have BFR for a reason.
[edit^3] It's more of a code of conduct, not a set of rules. It's just that some people dislike what is seen by the code as unhonourable warring. It's really all about honour.
