*Nod* Yeah, I took your idea and took it to it's full logical conclusion. I think it would be harder to exploit and prevent too much land from staying in the game. Cause an admin might not get to it before 24 hours once or twice, and if alot of land has accumulated that could be a major thing. So just let the admins have the choice to release or not. Better than a landfarm or automatic redistribution, in my opinion, and it's simple, simple is good.

What if we have land catching, but also an admin control to drop X % of the land in the game? Proportionally from everyone, and the message might be an earthquake/storm blew away XX acres.

Disasters... Yeah, That'd be fine. Would that affect Troops, food and cash aswell? Seeing how there should be people and such on that land when its destroyed.

I'm really not in favor of the admin pool idea. I would prefer to see dropped land go to land farms and have the land redistributed like that. The land would eventually filter back up to the top again.

In the other thread I listed the reasons I don't like land farms.

Oh, Heres a weird idea. Hopefully it will atleast help with a comprimise.

What if an empire just normally gained land as time went by. Like, everyday, they get 100 acres of land. Just from the people exploring the area around where the empire is. Now, you could set an option so they can't explore mind you, but, it does make sense that the people would "scout" out new places. Call it cultural explansion, just like in Civ or what not. All that has to be done is set a max amount of land that can be in the game for the number of players. *Shrugs* Its makes the land that was dropped come back to be distrubted back to the active players. It could just be that this scouted land is only gained when land is dropped or an empire is deleted. And because it was dropped, it would achieve the goal that the dropper intended, but only for a limitied amount of time.

Like I said... I'm just trying to get a comprimise going here. Feel free to pick and choose or just throw it out. ;)

The idea is sound, but I don't like fixing the amount of land in the game in advance. I still think admins should be able to regulate the amount of land in the game via storms... Maybe a separate poll?

I like the land catching with storms idea. It allows the most management of the game. If no one is dropping, one can adjust, and if everyone is dropping, it can be redistributed. One thing about the storms though, that's gonna affect magers once again, because the their ratio will change, and where they may not have lost mages/spies before, they will after the storm. Any ideas?

Until it decreases the number of huts enough for them to have too many per hut and start to lose them.

It'll never be worse than what they started out with, think about it. Unless they run many turns in which case it would have been bad anyway. It can't get worse for them, is my point. Just better.

No, ok, say someone has a 174 ratio after their run and someone has grabbed land. Then you blow away land that has huts on it. Bam, over 175, they start losing leaders as soon as they take a turn. They attack to get more land, and the turns used take away leaders until they can build huts, and by then it's too late. Or if they already have a ratio over 175, you just made their situation worse.

They lose hawks until they have exactly a 175 ratio and no less (minus rounding, obviously). So in your example, a gain.
