please get off IE
now.
a command has been given, and unless you're on a computer you're not allowed to so much as touch (I've seen thoes) you should get firefox

why?
security
reliablility
speed
good features such as tabs and bookmarking setup
what else?
oh, you can see the spiffy new icon ;)

Hmm. Well, the computer is the family's, so I can't do anything as far as major changes without asking my dad. And I'm not sure he'd be interested. IE works just fine for most of the stuff we do. But when/if I get my own computer, it might be somting to check out.

Weird... that is the way my compy is acting. First it lets me see banners. Now it doesn't. So I have no idea what Corban's looked like. Windy, I like yours but I am not really ready to vote yet because I've seen all of two banner ideas. *Considers drawing a little something* It could be cool. Meh. We'll see. I'll prolly post it in scraps on DeviantART first.

Ruddertail, just bookmark FaF. Then click on the bookmark. The icon should appear both in your Favorites list and beside the URL in the Address Bar (in IE).
And go Firefox!

if windows came with firefox the net would be a better place ;)

Fat chance.

Some library computers come with IE, restricted to view library sites. However they also come with SFTP, so I always FTP in, grab the installer, and put it in a harmless directory like My Ebooks. So I get firefox with no restrictions... silly librarians... :P

Err... Where is the new banner Beatles made? I see the one on http://faf.staronesw.com/dev/ 's little favorites icon if thats what you mean...

p.s. I use a combo of IE and Firefox I like them both. I don't always see how firefox is better though... More people use IE so its more compadible with websites...

thankee slasher
I'd love to get flash, but its still rather out of my range in price.. and I have other stuff that claims priority.. like another monitor.. I want two screens to work on, tis much fun.. I have an old CRT hooked in now, but its HUGE and I'm not sure if I have room for it on my desk...

Corban, you havnt used firefox much if you dont see the difference.. IE loads slower and has so many security flaws its almost funny. There was a JPG bug a while back where if you loaded a piccy in IE you could get a virus or somthin that could be embedded in the JPG file. Forget the specifics, but it was /only/ IE users affected, 'cause IE is crap ^_^

IE also lets in spyware and adware that leeches off your computer, I dont think firefox has ever let anything through on my computer, but IE sure has...

The bookmark system and tabs are what I like best though.. I've got 4 tabs open in firefox, I usually have more, and if I had that open in IE they would be piled up at the bottom.

Plus you can add nice extension.. like I'm using FoxyTunes right now that acts as a remote for any music player. Play, Stop, Pause, Next, Back, Volume etc. all from the firefox brower window

but yeah, I'm done being a spokesperson for Firefox, use whichever...

Well I personally have XP sp2 which took care of the main security issues of IE. And the loading time isn't a big deal because I have broadband...

p.s. I recently found out that you can download a full version of flash for a 30 day trial period from macromedia.com (for free)

The main thing I like about IE is that almost every website is compatible with it while many are slightly uncompatible with firefox.

p.s. I added on to my last post.

If it's firefox-incompatible, there's likely a reason why.

As for demo-ing flash, you still need to pay for the classes that teach you how to do much.

And do we really want our members to download something just so they know what the game is called? New people don't always bother.
Back. I think.
