A brief PHP script that takes information from your IPB forum (as defined in config.php) and takes the last 5 (or whatever, also in config.php) news items from the news forum (also defined in config.php) and shows them on the main login page. Comments are how many replies have been received to the topic. The blurb is everything until the first newline (obviously, care must be taken when posting news items to make them appear right, but we can easily go back and edit a few posts) and there is a 'Read More' link. This way, people not going to the forum can be apprised of the latest updates.
Possibility: run-turns.php checks the latest news, and mails it out to members who opt in to receive mailings, or non-members who enter their email on the main page. About this latter, what do you think?
Last thought: ipb_synd and phpbb_snyc php files will go into lib. I will try to write both, but we will probably need to test the latter on Ragnarok.
