Redwall Duels XIV
The game will have three clans. These are The Luddites, Steampunk, and The Anarchists. Of these, The Luddites and Steampunk are 'elite' clans composed of top-flight players. Each has 3 players, who have been already picked, and all other signups will go into The Anarchists. How many people play in The Anarchists is not terribly important.
This game will be very difficult in terms of what decisions the clan leaders face. Suppose you are in one of the elite clans. Should you attack the Anarchists? But then the other elite clan might wipe you out! What if you attack the other elite clan? But then you are weakening each other and the Anarchists could get you.
Suppose you are in the Anarchists. Which clan should you ally with? If you make the decision too late, they could have allied against you. Otherwise how do you know which one to ally with? Can you play a dangerous double game? But that's too risky too.
Whichever clan you are in, can you really trust the clan you are making a treaty with? The third clan will also be trying to get a treaty with them. What's saying they won't betray you? If you don't understand the diplomacy correctly, you could be dooming your whole clan.
Suppose one clan is weak. You should start attacking the stronger clan, right? But what if that breaks a previous treaty? When do you decide to terminate a treaty? What if you terminate a treaty to soon, and are turned on by two clans! Probably certain death.
This is a very difficult game of Duels, as only one clan will ultimately survive. Two clans will be eliminated, and your clan is going to be among them unless you play the game just right. Your clan's behavior, diplomacy, must be coordinated; otherwise if members break treaties, you have no hope of surviving. But what if you see a really good opportunity? Is it worth the risk to break a treaty?
What if you don't make a treaty? Odds are your clan will die.
The decisions you make in the entire course of the game will be critical to your clan's survival. Your policy must be dynamic, must change with the current events of the game, so you must be a good diplomat and leader, even if you don't have a clan diplomacy position. On the other hand, if you aren't also a good player, then where does that leave you? And your clan? All but a few survivors will find out.
The game will probably start in the next 1-2 days; you will get a Duels newsletter about it to your signup email.
Good Deathmatch!
