Discussion of RWL-FAF ties

You can talk about anything here, not necessarily game-related. You may also advertise here.

We left this forum open for quite a while after the discussion stopped. If you wish to discuss the attempt for the RWL-FAF ties, then you may read these topics:

http://frostnflame.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=800
http://frostnflame.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=778
and discuss them here. They are now "declassified", if you are interested.

Whatever, I'll just post something. XD

We're the only Redwall based Promisances that I know of, and we should be linked to eachother and co-exist. I think that the Admin of both sites should put aside their differences to help create a better environment with more people, and to improve on eachother's games.

There should be no bashing eachother in any way, no "this site is better than the other site." But there also shouldn't be a special rule about it... I mean, if you're going to bash an affiliate, you are a loser... :)

No advertising between for a certain site on the other, they should be publicly affiliated. Retto'd probably have a problem with this since he has a problem with advertising of any form, I've even talked to him about it. Maybe you guys could link to them without asking, and see what happens.

FAF could review BAXX and look for bugs, and suggest changes if you guys want to... Retto's pretty much the only guy only at RWL that knows how to code, and he's doesn't even have enough time to do some things for his own site. This would just be a nice thing to do, it's not like bugs transfer between games...

We can discuss it over here, but what about discussing it over there?

Well, I'd tend to agree with you Nohc. I don't really know Retto, but do you really think he'd see putting a link to FAF somewhere on the sidebar of the main page as advertising? As for discussing it there, well, you'd have to ask a RWL admin, or just start a topic to see what happens. But if you could get member support over there for an affiliation, it would seem that Retto would be more inclined to support it. At least, that makes basic logical sense.

All of the people that go to FAF as well as RWL could start a topic about it or something. You're probably right, I don't think Retto would oppose putting up one banner if half of his site's members are for it...

Well, let's see. That's you, windy, Zeph, Urran, and Nev? Anyone else? You might start it, or maybe it's be better if windy did, since he's a mod over there...

Devari's not as active over there, he'd probably seem more like an FAF goes than an RWL goer. I'm not an admin (for some reason) and people may like me but they're listen to windy more, I'm sure.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of semi-joint delevopment, and joint distrobuation (We put BAXX on our sourceforge, they put FAF up for download over at RWL). Joint delevopment might come in the form of an improved game guide, admin guide, and starting tutorial, which we could host over at Sourceforge. The documentation is very similar between both games, and is currently lacking on both games. I don't see this going so far as codebases though... We both like what we have (mostly... Of course neither admin wants (serious) bugs int he code), and how it is designed.

As far as a banner goes... Just have Retto allow us to post one topic in the delevopment forum, as if we were running BAXX. An affiliates listing would be nice.. but isn't really needed.

A shame that Retto is so adamently against advertising

FAF might get a spot in the dev forum, but noone looks there anymore..

I'd like to see more coop between FAF and RWL, but then again there's really no point in arguing with somone about what they do with their site.. Retto has been against advertising in the past, methinks he wont have changed his views, which is his perogative..

But what if a decent amount of members supported working together? He most likley won't want to annoy his members by directly going against what they want. That's why we're saying get public support for this. If you can do that, you're at least halfway there.

I play RWL, but not as much. From what wolfbite said, I think he just came here to start something. Maybe if both groups stop responding to posts by saying "quit going off topic" and go off on something else. Address it directly, if they still say that stuff, we don't need them.

I won't bother with my 2 cents. Don't want to fuel the flames. But, people, whatever your intentions, I see very simple ways to misinterpret your posts.

I don't think Wolf Bite did anything too wrong.

Nah, it's just that the argument wasn't going anywhere.
