Hello! We'll throw down a rope when you're making progress. 
I recommend Mandrakelinux, because 1. I personally feel it makes life easier compared to some other distros, and 2. it has a large community.
There is also Fedora Core, of which almost the same things might be said.
SUSE is also very good, although it has less of a community right now.
Pick one!

I think I'll try out mandrake. Sounds good. Right now, I'm running a dual boot system with an old version of Red Hat. I need to step up my game.

Yeah, so stick with the old times. :*laughs*:
Anyways, I don't personally like Debian because I don't know it so well... in other words, if good configuration tools for it exist, I haven't discovered them yet. I gave it a whirl which was an abysmal failure, but it was probably my fault. But I sure won't recommend a distro that you have to /know stuff about/ before you install it.
