zephyrus : **laughs** how true
ruddertail: errr and he's going to get jumped for food, without troops to defend? i noticed also that food doesn't give you that much networth compared to troops.
has anyone ever checked which works better, agarians or indys? e.g with 5k land in foragers or in barracks (depending on if you are agarian or indy), which one comes out ahead with 500 turns in terms of NW?
**Edit** Sorry I should have added: The agarian will convert his food to troops at the end of the run of course to get more NW.

He will get jumped for food, normally. That's why you either have to have a repuation that inspiers fear, or be in clan and give out the food to clan mates.
I'd say an indy would come out ahead, simply because troops are worth more in NW.

from experience, I have to say that agrarian is more profitable.
If you spend all your turns foraging and then sell the food and buy troops, after 2000 turns yours perpetually unbreakable with 10-20 million of each troop type, plus you get a lot of net. I'm agrarianing in BFR and have about 400 million networth in troops

Ahh. Weren't u with Six Stars?
I've run into a 'cap' with agarian strat. basically, if you have to put all your troops on the market at the beginning of the run to reduce maintenance, then the max you can make out of that run is related to the amount of land u have. and the cycle repeats, so i don't find that i'm actually gaining NW, but rather maintaining the same NW run after run? What am i doing wrong?

yeah, the public market was what i was talking about... that's where i stash troops at the beginning of the run.
at the end of the run, on a good day, i can buy out the bazaar, but even when i recall my troops, the NW doesn't change that much? (well, the bazaar only has so many troops u can buy, and hawk prodding only helps so much)
maybe the problem is that i keep putting them on and taking them off the market. it costs me 20% of the troops each time... so actually, if i don't bother doing that, i'll be able to accumulate more NW.
but i still don't see how you're unbreakable? hawks get me all the time
also, from past experience, i don't want to leave things in the market... you never know when someone will decide to kill u, and i prefer having troops around to protect me instead of sitting in the market

Well, I had 4 mil hawks on 40k acres. If you have 800,000, well, your ratio is pretty poor. The good thing is that a pure hawker will very seldom use hawk battles, since hawk losses are so high. So keep your hawk shield up, and pure hawkers won't be two much trouble.

hmm... this is just day dreaming, but would this help...
at the end of the run, demolish as much huts as possible? that would lower the hawk/hut ratio so that you can defend better against hawk attacks?
otherwise, since hawks cannot be bought off the market, there isn't anyway to beef up your hawks quickly, but building huts and keeping them around for 300-400 turns hurts your food production...
i don't see anyway around it
i guess agarians are just always vulnerable to hawks

Yeah, demolishing huts does help. That's what I do when I run a non hawk strat... It's not just agrarians, regular troop indies have problems with them too. Ever been murdered fifty times? Even with sheilds up, it's not fun...

ohmyjapan is semi-stuck. He makes about 90 bil a run, but with the market losses, he is hurt. Badly. What should he do? Maybe build some barracks?
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
