A recent discussion over at RWL has prompted me to post this poll just as a measure of user views on the matter. So, do you think there is too much killing on BFR? If so, do you belive changes should be made to the game to make it harder/more costly to kill?

I voted yes, but as long as they stay in the rules, it's their choice to kill and be disliked.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

No changes should be made at all, but there are too many kills in my opinion.

I voted no. Let me elaborate. Being killed isn't fun. However, this is a war game. Though there should be something that only allows one to kill another of roughly the same skill. One person with 10k land and average troops shouldn't be able to take out someone in the top 10. Someone in the top ten should need an entire run plus a planning and storage day or two to make a kill on another top 10er. A warmongering clan and/or emp must not be allowed to kill everyone, but should have the power that is due to him/her as emp. We don't want to make people invincible, but neither should extortion be a tool for the lower ranked.
Back. I think.

See other topic. Let people who are upset by violence play Conquest of Generals, not BFR, which is very kill-happy.

Well, while BFR is generally more kill happy, kills are too easy. The number of kills isn't the problem, it's that, like Zeph said, a couple of low ranking newbies can kill any top ten player they want, providing they mass a troop he's weak in. That's not right. I don't mind too much if I get killed by Urran, or Beatles, or windy, or someone else good, it's getting killed by a n00b who found a slight weakness that's anoying.

Sorry Ruddertail, but if you know you have a chink in your armor, why didn't you fix it? Doesn't this mean that other top 10ers can easily pick u off using that hole in your armor? so what's the diff? I mean, if i left my backdoor open, I don't really care if it's a first time burglar or the mafia that emptied out my place... :) Time to call insurance!!

I think kills against killmongers, or challenges that were put forth are fine. As someone in another thread ( i think it's wuddship or zephyrus) mentioned, it's part of the game to knock someone from 3rd to 18th :*laughs*:

Do you know, I was just saying about that to gondor about people who mass one troop type and then for no aparent reason go and start attacking anyone and everyone... (Gondor did say he would stop killing as much btw)

It's a valid strategy, but those massing a single troop should have that troop as a last line of defence, requiring the death of nearly all those troops before that of their account.

Ideally, yes. But if I have 30k acres, it's basicly impossible to have enough mice to defend against someone going 100% mice on 10k, assuming I want to have a decent defense with the other troop types. So while I'm well defended against most attacks, there will still be some way for someone to break me, most likley, and if they can break me, they can kill me if they have enough turns... Despite the fact they could never break using standard attack.

Yes you're right... but then, that means that no one can ever be safe, right?

In my opinion though, that is both a good and a bad thing :)

Bad because you can never hold on to your land as well as you'd like,

but

Good because the game never becomes static... well, to an extent :) if the top guy managed to amass enough NW from the others so that they can't break him, then he's got a death's grip on the top positions (which makes the game really dull for everyone else :)

I think Zephyrus could be on to something here... if there was a rule that forced players to completely decimate the troops that the guy has before killing him off, that could work. What do you think??

I like that. If we force people to attack with standard below 500 acres, then people could easilly still smash others quite hard, yet killing would be a lot harder, and require skill, strenght and cooperation. That was proposed already, look in suggestons and bugs...

Yes, that is why you take the person with the most land and hit them hard. Mass one troop. Buile according to your strat. You should have enough to buy out or come close to buying out the bazaar. Of course, I advise (for what it's worth) that you always mass mice, because one can never have enough. Mass them, and then you don't have to worry about them and buy out the bazaar accordingly.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
