Something Devari and I chatted about.
Also something I brewed in my head today.
What if you split each your empire/warband into four sections, the North section, East, West, and South. You could control building settings for each section of your empire. So, one section could be completely industrial, while another section would be the backbone of your economy to make up for the industrial section. You could also choose to attack a certain section of an enemy warband. Say the North section of Warband A is fortified with Guards. If Warband B attacked the East section (the economy section of Warband A), he would sustain less casualties and severely damage Warband A's economy. More thoughts later.

Say your land is split into four equal parts automatically. When you want to build, you must first choose to build in the North, South, etc.. When you attack, another drop down arrow could be used to say to attack in any section.

Perhaps we could implement this on a seperate server? It might be overwhelming for teh newbies, but could be fun for our jolly lot of insane oldbies.

That's why windy suggested a switch to turn the option on or off. But to attack someone in a certain sector, both empires would need to have the option on.
That could lead to someone mis using it though. Perhaps using it during sign-up?

It strikes me that it might be something of a more fundamental change - I'd still suggest a different server just for that.

Not on regular servers.
There are strategies which would die rather quickly to this change.
Let's say you're a 60/40 hut/guard.
Imagine what happens when you get attacked.
Either your guards are concentrated (in which case you've got weak directions) or diffuse (in which case someone gets to bypass 3/4 of them).
And if you stone wall... but then people would be using hawks anyways.

Back. I think.

Not many people Stone Wall anymore. Now we're basically wanting to hold the land during our run and that's all. Your troops still have full def points in every sector, plus you can split the guards up if you want. This idea was mainly for attacking other empires when I first thought it up.

That's the beauty of it. Something for us oldbies to learn and try out.

Yes, but anything useing guards will be weakened, since you'd have to split your guards up. And as you already need 100k guards to get 50 mil defense points, now you'd need 400k guards to get 50 mil defense points in each sector.
Empires:
WOA: Attila the Hun(#13)
BFR: ?
Founder and Leader of Hungry Huns (HH)

I love the idea! It adds a great deal more strategy making the game much more fun. I personally don't think it will confused newbies.
But if we decide to make it into another server... Here is an idea... What if you also had to position your troops in one of the four locations for defence. Of course you would also need to quadruple their defensive points just like the guards.
edit: missspelled quadruple
