You want easy cash? Too lazy to actually compute? Don't have the time? Have I got the strat for you! Get amazibng networths like I have! (Maybe not) But it'll get you where you want to go.
For me, I build about 95% foragers and 5% huts. I usually mass otters or hares because they are strong and they are easier to buy off the bazaar instead of mice and squrriels and they don't consume as much food.So at the beginning of your run, sell everything on the market except your attacking troop and sell the remainder on the bazaar. If you have some o fyour attacknig troop on the market, pull it off. Attack till you feel satisfied and then sell all you can of your attacknig troop on themarket, and then the rest on the bazaar. Do seppuku and forage the remainder o fyour turns, except leave 10 to raise defences. Then sell your food, and buy what you need from the bazaar acoordingly. After a while, your troops will build up on thr market and you will have more troops out at a time and you will increase steadily. NEVER forget to raise defences for hawks.

Upside: No worries.
Downside: The pvtmarket food prices aren't too great. Food net isn't going to do much if you decide to use it. Barracks are likely to make more troops, since it's direct and you lose nothing to the exchange rates.
Now, if we were to create a public market demand for food. Look, it's much better to buy at 15, even, 17 than to hawk forage. Get that point across to hawkers and you've got a very fun ahead, more so if you can convince indys to sell on pubmarket.
