New Unit Addition
Here is my idea for a new unit in the game.
The new unit would be a Siege Engine, its attack power and defence (would be 0 alone) but for every siege engine you have one guards towers defence would be ignored. Now we could make this be automatically added in or make it an option next to send all. Now if we added siege engines I would suggest making guards more powerful (also calling the battlements, walls, or something of that would better fit the game with the changes) and increasing their power by something like x2 or x5 what it is now.
So what do you all think of my idea(s)?
p.s. It would be built from the barracks and start at 0% of the current production rate. Also as expected it would take a long time to build (say 1 Siege engine would be build for every hundred otters or so.
p.s.s. Another option would be making another building specifically for building siege engines.

Hmm. Sounds interesting. This would make guards more useful, while at the same time not making guard massing a totally dominating strat, since somone with a large number of seige engines could smash right through your defenses.

Siege Engines were an essential part of medieval warfare off which the battles of redwall were based. Also if you remember the catapult used in the book mossflower was a type of siege engine. Though the types I'm mainly thinking of are battering rams (see Martin the Warrior) and siege ladders (Helms Deep Style).Slasher wrote: good idea but wheres the redwall relation?

Yould just generically call it "Seige Weapons."
I think your specs are a little off, but the idea is cool... we could try using it for a round of BFR or a special round and see how it works. I think making them have no upkeep and make it so that they can't be murdered would be cool too. That way you could just keep them lying around... of course you'd lose some when you fought someone with towers.

So, essentially, make towers a viable middle to end of round strategy, and then bring in siege weapons to combat that.
Interesting, to say the least...

Well Siege Engine is the correct term if I understand right, but thats the basic idea.Nohc wrote: Yould just generically call it "Seige Weapons.".
edit: Definition for Siege Engines: "large machines designed to aid an army in battle, usually during the siege of a castle. Examples include catapults, ballistia, and battering rams. Such machines are typically very large and heavy, slow to move, and take many days to build. However, to destroy such a beast is a hard task. Catapults and ballistia are usually out of range for any archer armed with a flaming arrow to hit, and battering rams are usually too heavily armored."

Yes, "Siege Engines" does sound better.Corban wrote:Well Siege Engine is the correct term if I understand right, but thats the basic idea.Nohc wrote: Yould just generically call it "Seige Weapons.".

I like the idea. But I would say more than one siege engine for a guard tower, because then if you had 10,000 engines, you'd be fine. Or you could price them very highly on the BM.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
