No. I don't see why people think it's such a big deal.

If I'm running turns, it's anoying. Highly. If I'm just sitting online I don't really mind, if they check with me first to see if I'm running turns.

I don't care as long as I'm not running turns... and even then, it's not big deal unless they do it excessively even when told...

However, I find it very rude. Because, you see, this makes it that people are affraid to run turns with anyone else on. If you spend 100 turns taking land, and then someone grabs all that land while you're online, you're just wasted 100 turns. So anyone purpusfully onlineing me had better go all the way, 'cause otherwise they'll find their account dead.

that's what I said or meant, if you know they know that they're onlining you, and your running turns, then it's time for payback, *laughs* (and you'll have plenty of turns left for that, *laughs*)

I don't mind accidental, but if it's purposfull, it's rude. Period. No ifs, ands or buts. I don't care if it's one purposful online attack or 21, they die.

Sure it is annoying to get hit in the middle of a run... But I always saw that as part of life. You rebuild, rearm, and strike back. Simple as that. Nothing rude or unethical about it, in my opinion as an old RWL player.

I still vacillate on the matter.

By the way, Nev, we never found out who your avatar was, did we?

Indeed, you haven't learned what it is. Say, just where did I put that game topic where people were supposed to guess?

Ok. This issue has gone WAY too far.

Therefore, here is my proposal:

If a person is online when attacked, the following happens:

A new page comes up. It explains "the evils" of online attacking, for the benefit of the newbie crowd.
You will have the option to
a) continue
B) stop
c) continue, and never be notified again
d) continue, and not be notified for X amount of time
Alternatively, you could have this alert and then have a blacklist:
a) continue
B) stop
c) continue, and add to blacklist (never notified again)
Of course, if we want to be REALLY advanced:
a) continue
B) stop
c) continue, and add to blacklist (never notified again)
d) continue, and add to a temporary/session blacklist (not notified again until you log out)

Here is the thing:
Onlining is a part of the game. In war, especially. So, taking it out is no problem. By giving notification, the person is KNOWINGLY onlining, which gives reason for indignation. Then, you put the smackdown on them, no questions asked. Taking out online attacking is, simply put, dumb. But, by making the people knowing agressors, it means that there is no longer anything "accidental" about it - a point of dispute that has been the source of the problem, more often than not.

It doesn't take a genius to add this into the game code. I could do it easily. All I need is a nod from the top, and it goes straight in dev.

Of course, another devilish idea is to give a defense boost while online, the reasoning being that the most able commander in the empire (the player) is available. Might make things interesting, although campers would be a problem - perhaps only if TURNS have been run recently, not just pages viewed?
If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone

i do not like to be onlined. never have. now, when you have someone else and you want to duel it out, while your both online, that can be both very challenging and fun. but, that is only with a agreement. now, blindsided onlining. i dont dig it at all, but one could always say that this is war and, *laughs*, who is to say what is fair and what is not in war? eh?
last time i checked there is not Geneva Convention for BFR :P

anycase, do not online me. if you do, i will online you back. but then, that just leads to a vicous circle eh?
all about FAVRE, come on...you know you want to click it

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

As long as I'm not running turns, I don't care..In fact, I'd rather be attacked while I'm just browsing instead of logging on and just finding out that I've been smushed.
