Eww land farms...
Now if we could teach Phillip how to play prom effectively (effectively being the keyword here) and sent the land to him it wouldnt be quite as bad, but just a dummy account with no troops getting landfat...
My IQs dropping just thinking about it.

*laughs* man this is too funny. Someone must have heard that land dropping is a good move at times and thought they would do better if they dropped some. Just a note, land dropping's not very effective at the beginning of a set. I'm halfway tempted to post a land dropping guide on when it's useful and when it's not but I'd probably be crucified for doing that.
Anyway, I'll just say there's no point in dropping land for at least the first half of the set, and only for limited applications in the last half of the set.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

But you won't catch the dropped land Kraken. It won't help very much. You cannot add back into the game in one day what dropping 50k or 60k takes out.
As too dropping in the first place, there is a time and place for it. I will A) help with the guide or B ) Write my own.

OK here's a quick basic guide for dropping to get your mage ratio right. This should be done to protect yourself when you pull troops off the PM at the end of the set. Example A: Nohc
Basically the run before you pull off the PM build wizards, then at the end of your run demolish your huts to ratio (just click safe to demolish) and all of every other type. Drop all unused land. This makes it harder but not impossible for someone to murder you, and it will make it particularly hard for them to sustain murders. At the end of last set I was looking at Nohc's stats and Caped Crusader's stats, whipped out the ole prom calculator and saw that if Caped Crusader dropped all land but huts he could sustain a murder run against Nohc. Had Nohc dropped all but huts he wouldn't have been murdered, therefore he would have won the set.
Really this early in the set there's no point in dropping land to get a good ratio. Why bother wasting turns to protect your stuff when you have nothing to protect? Your best bet is to spend your turns on improving your empire, then worry about protection when there's a need for it.
Personally I don't think the land in the game is all that critical. If Player A is 10% more productive than Player B on 20k land, he'll be 10% more productive than Player B on 200k land. It's not how much you run with, it's how much you run with compared to everyone else and how much you do with it compared to everyone else.
EDIT: Kraken, I was gonna ask you if you were Moo at Valhall, after seeing this I'm guessing yes.

No, becuase you will build troops and whatnot. The land farm has to be an AI, because all it does is sit there and scout every day.
(And the game would delete if we don't have it do SOMETHING Kyr, that's why I said it should scout) And what's wrong with it scouting anyway? All it does is bring more land into the game. So he looks impressive, until someone knocks the bejesus out of him for land.
I find land dropping to be beneficial, but usually when I'm on a war footing or maintaining the emperorship.
