I think it looks quite good! I'm looking forward to KDE 4 more than ever now!
If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone
It's a lovely day in the woods today, but safer to stay at home
BECAUSE EVIL FREEN IS KILLING ALL THE TEDDY BEARS AT THEIR PICNIC
Death's alright with me
When it's on TV
Death's alright with me
How funny it can be hahaha
Death's alright to me
Put me on deathrow
My gun is on the shelf
I guess I'll go and shoot myself
Well considering that their stock icons, Crystal or whatnot, are confusing, ugly, and plain '95-ish...
I mean for the sake of something good and sweet, when you have to decipher what is the 'up' and the 'back' button on the filemanager with heavy thought and logical deduction, then something's wrong. I much prefer those with icons that look like /\, \/, <| and |>. (All triangles.) Much more intuitive to the corner of the eye.
Heh.. you posted a comment, one of the first things I saw. Modded +4, too.
Ah, just took a look at the preview page. I personally don't like what I see much yet, but maybe it will evolve with time... To be fair, looking at the Tango icons, I think they're plug-ugly as well.
So are the Windows icons, in fact, those are worse than either Tango or Oxygen. I haven't seen OS X icons in a while, but they were good, although not the best.
To be complete, I don't much like the 3rd major DE's icons -- XFCE's -- either (that is Rodent).
I tried Bluecurve for some time, and while it was good, it wasn't impressive either.
Etiquette is probably my second favorite icon theme, gaining points for visual stunningness while losing some on gut clarity.
So what is my favorite icon pack? If I had to pick one, stock Gnome. But I generally used a mix of stock Gnome/GTK+, Etiquette, and BlueCurve. I don't think that's the best the community could be producing though... and I realize that tastes are personal.
I can also elaborate on where I find fault with most icon packs. For me they're either 1.) dull and boring, 2.) relatively colorless, 3.) look like a mess at small sizes, 4.) can be easily confused at small sizes, 5.) are all similar in color. Many focus on shininess while ignoring points 1. and 2., and end up looking cold and unexciting and small sizes.
