Yeah, we had a discussion on this a while back, I remember. It's quite easy to say "what in the weasel?" Or "Ratmeat", or "Great Honk!", or something else creative and non-offensive. If you can't manage that, especially on a forum situation, where you can think a while before you say anything, it definately doesn't say much for your maturity level.

Actually, profanity tends not to be a sign of immaturity, persay, but instead a sign of a person who has difficulty communicating with other people.
I tend to be very clean-mouthed around strangers and on the Internet (well, I don't consider the short form of damnation to be foul), and extremely foul-mouthed around people I'm relaxed around (in addition to spouting off all sorts of weird things that random searching on wikipedia has exposed me to. And by weird a mean creepy/very dirty).

hmmm........Freenhult wrote: Seriously...There really is no need for profanity at all. There are so many other words that you can use. Swearing is definately as sign of immaturity. Except in some situations. I.E. (You get into an car accident and your yelling at the other guy.)
so when one is in a car wreck and you call the dude that hit you a stupid mother (Profanity is a sign of Maturity)er then it is okay because the situation merits it eh? or is it because it is in the heat of a angry moment and you feel like stupid mother (Profanity is a sign of Maturity)er is an appropriate word for the occasion!
well, in most cases here on FAF when people let a few curse words bomb out of thier systems its more than likely they are in the heat of the angry moment. Say, you just got alot of land and your building net like a busy bee in spring when all of the sudden! BAM! someone is taking your (Profanity is a sign of Maturity) left and right!
well! does this not warrent some comments that are profanity ample?
so you message the dude or dudette saying hey! you stupid mother (Profanity is a sign of Maturity)er! cut that (Profanity is a sign of Maturity) out before i rip you a new (Profanity is a sign of Maturity)!
surely things like this are writtin in the heat of the moment when your frustrated or angry, just like the car wreck eh? just a thought.........
all about FAVRE, come on...you know you want to click it
The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

Haha! :*laughs*:
I only wish I knew another language to swear in. Maybe I need to get intouch with my heritage and learn some Polish curses.
Or maybe Gaelic! Yeah, the Scots and Irish are a good bunch of foul mouthed people!

I think you know what I meant Kraken...If you want to swear in "real life" thats fine...but does it really need to be in this kind of enviroment? I myself am an avid gamer and know what it is like to build yourself up and then you get pwn'd by the game. You get super mad and throw the controller, and yell at the TV, but if you are just dropping f-bombs and other stuff...whats that gonna get you. "In the heat of the moment" take a break to cool off...then let people know how mad you are, ya know?

Hehe, I know. My response was supposed to be funny. The Beatles wrote: It certainly wasn't intended to be anything but humorous. I value the fact that I can be humorous in two languages far over the fact that I can be profane in three.
The Internet carries my brand of humor so poorly.
