I never said football was more popular than American football in Canada... It isn't, quite unfortunately.

And, yes, Hockey is BY FAR the most popular sport in Canada.

Huh. I musta gotten the wrong impression from you comments then. From what you were saying it sounded like it went hockey, soccer, football, etc. in descending order.

Yeah, I thought it was. That's why Canada always has such a great Olympic hockey team.

I'm not actually sure what the most popular sport in the US is, prolly football, but basketball and baseball are both pretty popular as well. And soccer is growing in popularity as well.

You're being ignorant of the game again. It's perfectly well known that all football players will overdramatize the tiniest scratch, sometimes tumbling five times for something which wouldn't even trip them up on the street. It's just theatrics to try to get a foul.

You find that in every sport...Hence the "Diving" penalties. So saying that Soccer players are pansies is really ethnocentric. Personally...I think diving is really cheating, but I can't say I haven't done it. ;)

OK, I'm cool with "flopping." It sucks when the other teams gets away with it but it is a perfectly valid strategy. What I'm not cool with is 2 grown men slapping each other, and one of them throwing one of the worst punches I've ever seen. Then another guy running up and getting in someone's face and just jumping around is ridiculous. If you're gonna fight it's stupid but fine, go ahead. If you're doing it to show your tough it's not fooling a soul. If you're trying to draw him into throwing a punch your wasting your time since your teammate did a nice flop job after that pansy 3rd grader punch he took.

Man I gotta go watch some UFC, my Estrogen levels are getting ridiculously high after watching 2 grown men slapping each other.

So they are lame players...Every team has 'em. I've seen some pretty bad Hockey "Fights". Where both guy stand there and throw the lamest punches ever. And I disagree...I don't think most americans think soccer is a pansie sport, many just find it too boring. (Like watching Baseball on TV...Ugh)

One: Soccer is a pansy sport. :P

Two: It's ridiculously boring. :P

But no really, that's a pretty sad thing to do, all those theatrics to try to get a foul. That's why I think it's better to give other penalties than removing players from the game. Because you get this sort of stuff, players trying to get other players kicked out, and it's unsportmanlike.

Halftime thoughts:

US passing is even worse today than last game.

The penalty kick that scored Ghana's second goal was a bogus foul.

Ghana is in much better shape.

On Ghana's first goal Reyna was too busy flopping to worry about defense.

On Ghana's first goal my grandmother saw that steal coming.

U.S. finally scored on it's own this tourney.

U.S. first goal was set up by one of the better passes I've seen the U.S. make in either game I've watched. (Not that that's saying much)

I preferred watching it in English so I can know if it's a card or a regular foul. They rarely show the refs after a call.

EDIT:

End of Game thoughts:

The flopping was really getting out of hand this game.

I love watching people writhing in pain, only to steal a quick glance to see if the refs still watching them. It reminds me of when a crying 2 year old looks at their parent to see if they're watching, if the parent is it's 10 more minutes of crying.

The U.S. had a player with the ball and his man beat close to the goal. No other players blocking any part of the net (besides goalie of course) and instead of taking a shot he opts to pass it to the guy with 3 Ghana players within 5 feet of him. Surprisingly the pass sucked and there it went.

There is no sense of urgency whatsoever. If you lose you go home and players are still loafing around wasting time, even at the end of the game.

Ghana's goalie seems decent. Big fellow. Very active today.

Against Italy the U.S. didn't take many shots, today they took lots of shots but most were ducks.

The lack of commercials is refreshing. It should all be like that.
