What DID he say?^^

And Ronnie Lott was a old-school football player. They just don't make em like that anymore. Even if he was from USC. :P

Did you ever watch John Ritchie play? I used to love watching that guy. He had some weird condition with his forehead that gave him huge welts where the pad on the inside of his helmet touched his forehead, and after the first hit they would start bleeding. So he was always had the crazy guy with blood running down his face and every play he would lay some poor fool out. He never got the ball but he never complained, played through a lot of injuries, always did his job, never made any stupid mistakes, his reads were always good, led for the best short yardage rushing attack in the league. Just an all-around likeable guy that never got a tenth of the attention he deserved.

And watch what you say about USC, have their fair share of HOF players.
I know the voices in my head arn't real but they usually have some pretty good ideas.

Can't help it, I'm a Notre Dame fan. :D I go all rabid at the mention of USC. :*laughs*:

And no, I've never seen him play, but I've heard about him. Another player of the old school. My favorite of the modern day is Brian Urlacher of the Bears. No showing off, no complaints, just hard hits and a down in the dirt, gritty, mentality that makes him one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Has gone to the Pro-Bowl like 5 or 6 times consecutively now.

Oh, well I don't actually care that much then. *laughs*. Basketball sucks though, I prefer football. Oh and for gondor, when I say "football" I mean American football, when I say "soccer" I mean the other kind of football. And Kraken is totally right about the NFL monsters. And we have several examples here in the US of good football players also being good in other sports. There are very few sports that translate to other areas like football. American football produces probably the best all around athletes of any sport.

Excepting the stuff you see in Hong Kong movies, martial arts produces great athletes yes, but they are highly specialized in that particular area of athletics. Football players are not like that. They need to be good in every area, such as strength, quickness or explosivity, speed, and several others, to be good at football.

Martial artists probably have the most diversity for sports - after all, excellent agility and speed can be used in any sport - even American Football!

*laughs*. Very funny Devari. *Drier than the Sahara*

And martial arts emphasize two things, quickness (or explosivity), and agility, but not actual speed, in the sense of how fast you can run. In addition, it's combat oriented, not meant to do the same things that most athletes do.

Are they agile though, with their feet? I know a football player would stand no chance on an American football field. But are you sure an American football player would stand any chance on a football field? Methinks the footie players would just dance around him with the ball.

You'd be surprised how agile a big guy can be. There's one player that just got drafted, named Reggie Bush, who was the top runningback in the country in college. The reason for this was his speed and agility made everyone else on the field look like they were running in slow motion.

Oh, interesting to hear. Wish the US would actually put some effort into its side, it could actually be good. But your coach sucks. (Arena)
