First of all hi and welcome. Secondly there is a guide here. I really should update it since the races/building names have changed, but it should still give you the basic idea.
If you are Macedonian, Assyrian, or Germanic just head to the indy strat section. If you are Persian, Greek, or Phoenician go to the Maging section, if you are Egyptian, Gallic, or Macedonian you can check the farmer section, and if you are Etruscan check out the casher strat section.
Note that Macedonians can farm or indy, and you may have success combining the 2 together.
Now I'm sure that you will probably be a bit confused by the guide at first, so just take it slow and feel free to ask any questions you may have. It's well worth it, as it's a very fun game to play. Good luck with your empire.

It kinda is. Anyone with a specialized army, like my Mice, can easily break through your ranks. You might also have a harder time trying to break me, because you don't know what troops I have out.

Why? Because building all farms with 200k acres means I make about 30 mil food. OR 150 mil monies. You can spy but thats it. You haven't been "crushed" because there is no reason too. 150 mil buys alot of mice.

*Shrugs* Buy really. I get some of the other stuff...but not enough to really matter. Today I bought hares/chariot. Like, 40k or so. I mix it up, but I focus on one unit type. That way, I'm almost always guarenteed some land.
EDIT: But like Nuke said. I'm Egypt so I make lots of food. If I was military, I prolly would make all troops, with some food on the side.

Dude don't take this the wrong way but I've seen you play and in my honest opinion it will take you some time to get recognized as an average player in many places. Especially if you try sticking with a balanced strat.Arthus wrote: I skimmed through your strats and one comment annoyed me slightly. A balanced strat is bad? really!? is that why i do so well? balanced strats are not bad!![]()
I said balanced strats suck for a number of reasons, one is that half of the buildings in the game produce based upon ratios. For example Player A has 100% mage towers and Players B and C have 50% mage towers Player A will mage for more cash than players B and C combined. The only buildings that arn't based on ratios are barracks (or blacksmiths or whatever they're called here) farms (or orchards, whatever they are) and guard towers.
Another reason is that it's just common sense to use the strengths of your race and minimize their weaknesses. If your race has a penalty to income and your still building markets/huts your losing effectiveness. For example let's look at Egyptians, I had said to farm if your an Egyptian. If you build 95% farms then 95% of your buildings are benefiting from your races farming bonus, thereby increasing your effectiveness. Now if a player doesn't like to see his income yellow and decides to build markets/huts to increase his income then instead of having 95% of his buildings getting an 11% bonus he now has 60% of his buildings getting an 11% bonus and 35% of his buildings getting an 8% penalty. To make matters worse markets/tents is dependant on ratios, and when you only put a small % of your land into them they become even less effective.
The difference between a balanced and a focused strat becomes even worse when you get heros. If you get the food hero Grumm (as any farmer should) instead of wasting your 11% bonus you now waste a 36% bonus.

Nuke is right. Balanced strats suck. My strats are usually leader based, and I can go from new player to number 1 in a couple of days. That's what a good player is. I can also indy of course. The only time I went for a balanced strat was when I first started playing promi's. Course back then everyone else I was playing with was still starting out too, so it wasn't that hard to do well. But nowadays all the good players go for one area to concentrate on. The only reason you are "rising through the ranks" is cause most of the game is not playing. And most of the ones who are don't care.

Well. We shall see. I don't do a completely balanced strat like 50/50. More like 80/20 or something like that. Like currently I have been doing farming and I put like 80% farms, 10% tents and 10% towers. I like to keep some towers on me to stop the weak players from getting my stats, even though that doesnt matter in a team game because you only really need one mager.
