KDE's desktop is certainly more configurable -- in most aspects.

Slasher has tried several distributions already.

example of how its more configurable though?

and yeah, I know slasher has tried several distros.. but suse comes on one dvd or 5 cds, while ubuntu comes on one cd.. if download time is an issue its nice to have it in 1/5 of the time ;)

To cite a really banal instance, you can edit the KDE menus.

I know you can't adjust the icon sizes as in GNOME, so I said "in general". I can think of more examples if the above one has been invalidated in recent GNOME versions.

Okay... One device is working, but two semi-functional one still remain.

I havn't really had a crack at wireless yet. I know what chipset I have and what Intel driver I need, I just havn't got around to setting it up.

Sound is giveing problems... It seems some applications (namely GL-117 and Realplayer) are able to output sound, but others (like amaorK and flashplayer) are not. Where would I start troubleshooting? Secondly, when I plug headphones in, it doesn't completely disengage my laptop's speakers. Where would I start looking to fix this problem?

EDIT: YaST seems to pickup my sound chip correctly...

Menu editing must be recent then.

I was saying you /can/ resize icons in GNOME, but not KDE (at least on a per-icon basis), which IIRC is what you'd done on the background of your Spitfire.

I missed the -as- oops.

anything else?
as mentioned, because you can load kde apps in gnome and visa versa there really isnt that much of a split between the two, that I notice anyways. feel free to correct

oh, and my desktop background is of a blackbird..
the box's name is blackbird, named for its black color, sheer size, and twin processors ;)
