Is there anywhere to find this information within the game?

For the first, no. It isn't really a necessary feature.

For the second, it is quite nice. When you go to execute a spy mission, select the dropdown box. As long as you use Internet Explorer or Firefox, it will show you if you can do a mission - green if you have the ratio and runes needed, yellow if you have the ratio but not the runes, and red if you don't have the ratio.

So...is there anyone who can tell me what's worth what? I've found that it really helps in strategizing.

(Also, can you not get troops/spies in protection or something?)

I can't actually remember the exact networth values... Perhaps someone else knows?

You can get troops/spies in protection, certainly. There IS a scaling mechanism in place, though... 1,000,000 Rats in RWL would be 1,000 Spearmen in FAF, so you won't see a massive number of troops.
