Not only no, but Hell no. I don't particularly hate Windows that much, but I ain't gonna touch Vista with a 10 ft poll until they get the bugs mashed out.

<_< Can I say that? :o

naaah...
im keeping XP, the Vista can kiss me arse.
besides, why upgrade/downgrade?
XP does fine for me and it seems so odd that Microsoft would release such a operating system so soon after releasing XP.
If they were smart, they would of kept it and turned it over so many times until it was great and dang near flawless before releasing it. THAT would of made more sense, but no. they have to make the peeps who spent money a few years back on XP feel out of date.
If Microsoft wants to make thier image better to the above average computer geeks out there who prefer Linux and such, then they need to work thier flaws out before they slip the consumer another one.

funny post Slashy pants.

wow, i should loose at least 1000 karma points for this post because it was actually thought out....what the heck is wrong with me?

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

thought out maybe... right? I donno ^_^

Vista is, what, 4 years Late. They were on a roll before, 3.1 -> 95 -> 98 -> 2000 -> XP [200..1?2]
I skipped NT on purpose, and not including service packs or special editions

XP was a massive improvement over the previous versions, but there doesnt seem to be all that much different about Vista for being 5ish years in the making
But it'll be adopted and become the 'standard' like xp eventually, once people start replacing their machines (I give it 3-4 years to take a good hold) and software makers start requireing it

it'll also bog your computer down, nothing will run as fast as it did in XP
if you have an ubercomputer you probably wont notice as much, but none of my boxes fall in that category.. so no, I'm not upgrading

I <3 Fedora. They fixxed their package manager and it fully supports all the hardware on my server and lappy (though I currently use ubuntu on it)
btw, I really dont like Kubuntu.. I just.. dont think its there yet. Fedora lets me run gnome, kde, xfce, etc. apps under all without issue. (k)ubutnu will not. konqueror is borked, loads slow and crappily
Hobbs FTW!

This is a Microsoft operateing system... Which means wait until SP1, then get Linux :) Really, until DX 10 games become commonplace (which my never happen) there is no reason to get Vista. The various Linux distros already have the eyecandy and security features.

Then again it may have decided to take matters into its own hands.

Love your upgrade cycle, Bjorn. Wait 'til SP1, then get Linux. :D

Wow. Vista hates Direct X 9. Meaning your games lag. I'm definately waiting until 1. The price comes down some, and 2. When DX10 comes out.

I'm not surprised that gaming sucks on Vista... After all, the ideal system (if games were cross-platform) is something like Fluxbox on a minimal Linux setup; the idea is for the game to consume all the system resources, not the operating system. With Vista, you have no substantial gain, and you are piling on a whole bunch of more requirements upon the machine.
