Yup very similar experiences, not a whole heck of a lot to do in DC besides seeing the sights unless you work there.

Cemeteries do vary greatly, a high population density West Coast city is not the best judge of national trends I would think. Plus, I think war cemeteries are different from normal ones. I saw the cemetery at Gettysburg, and it looked a lot like Arlington, only the headstones weren't as neat and ordered.

There's a beautiful cemetery nearby where I live. All trees and overgrown (old) gravestones. There's some new stuff too, of course. People have picnics there. It's a wonderful place.
If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone
It's a lovely day in the woods today, but safer to stay at home

No, nobody cares.

:P I don't think that view represents even a minority view. It's just people are not accustomed to asking for pics, they are usually posted spontaneously -- see windy and Freen.

I don't understand it, some are thumbnails, some are big. In photo bucket, they are all big.

OK, here they are, quite a few of them, so posting in link form.

Capitol Building, obviously, I'm the tall chunky one in the middle with the crazy hair.

Empire State Building from the ground.

The Pennsylvania monument in Gettysburg, it's the biggest one there. *laughs*

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... veyard.jpg

The Cemetery at Gettysburg, similar to Arlington, but the rows at Arlington are neater and more symmetrical. Forgot to bring my camera to Arlington.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... morial.jpg

Jefferson Memorial at night. Kinda looks like the Pantheon in Rome.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... nument.jpg

Blurry shot of Jefferson Statue inside.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... morial.jpg

Lincoln, inside the Memorial.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... chives.jpg

National Archives building, didn't allow flash photography inside, so no good pictures of the Constitution or Declaration.

Original C3PO and R2D2 at Smithsonian.

Cool shot from WW2 Memorial down the Reflecting pool.

Me and my Dad in Times Square

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... ilding.jpg

The Virgin Records sign and building.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... nument.jpg

Cool view of the Washington monument.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... NYCguy.jpg

Rather strange fellow we saw in New York City.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... morial.jpg

The sad little forgotten Memorial to World War One.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164 ... eHouse.jpg

Me, my dad, and my brother in front of the White House, we could have gotten closer, but my dad didn't want to walk that far. He has bad knees.
