Are we testing the more defensive FAF? If so, should 3 ships be able to break 3 ships and only 1 ship be lost in 4 attacks for the defender and none for the attacker?

No, as of now the test server is configured identically to the rest. I will let you know if this is not the case.

i got a question how is one supposed to get troops on this test server when there is none available on either market ??

Build Barracks...or buy from the Bazaar. I have some troops on the way to the Market.

already done both of those thats how i know that both bazaar and pm is empty of troops

Bazaar automatically starts out empty. Build Camps to speed up the refill rate. By now, you should be able to buy a couple guerilla units.

EDIT: Why are you an Indy race but plan on buying your troops?

When you make account in the test server you don't get pass. Just write your account name and leave pass empty. Then you choose your pass.

i,m also testing a different strat to what i would normally use on here. so as well as helping to test out any new ideas to games i'm also taking the opportunity to test a different strat for myself something which can use to compare with my current strat
