Death - unless you're against the basic concept of reserves, perhaps you could suggest an idea that would fix the problems you see but maintain that concept. I rather like Slasher's fix, you can only get them out if you're really pressed...
Guest (Shadow?) Yes, they can easily rebuild, but after a few days of fighting, the reserve should be exhausted, no? I'm not convinced the reserve makes it that much harder to smash somebody down if you have the sustained resources for a few days of fighting. I remember Nohc and Freen being able to smash me down at one point during our wars, and I had market storage capacity (all be it with the 20% - 30% pull capacity.

What do you suggest?
As a side note, do we know reserves are actually charging the upkeep they're supposed to be? Has anyone checked the numbers, either from the code side or the game side, (especially the game side) to make sure it's charging... what, 33%? Instead of, due to some error, 3.3% or something...

I can tell you right now there is no way in hell it is taking 33%. My suggestion actually was around 33% though, I mean I made this to get some ideas going.

It's easy to refill the reserve with at least one troop type during a recovery run if you start with a decent reserve. Meh, I use the reserve a lot, I just think it makes some aspects of the game less about skill and more about how much you can pack into the reserve.Guest (Shadow?) And how much you can pack into the reserve has nothing to do with skill?
Also, what about the run after that, and the one after that? Do you think you can keep packing stuff into it over and over and over again? Getting as many troops in there each time as you did the last time?

No, but you can pack in one or two troop types just as much as before, which is more than enough to continue your recovery.Ruddertail wrote: And how much you can pack into the reserve has nothing to do with skill?

Depends on the strategy - indy could do it, easily. I have no experience with farmer or casher, and mage could do it because it is still quite strong even with the nerf.Ruddertail wrote: Right - but can you continue that? For example, if you get smashed, recover, get smashed again - over and over - can you still sustain recovery, or would you eventually get smashed down?

Well, yeah... there's that.
Given that,
1. Is it reasonably possible for a player or coalition of players to really "smack down" a another player, that is, knock his networth down and, through persistent attacks, prevent him from getting it back up again?
2. Does the reserve change the possibility and/or difficulty of such a "smack down"?
3. Is that a positive thing?
