Hut Refill Too Slow?
I think I liked the old refill rate a lot better. Right now it's awkward because my huts are filling slowly. Meanwhile, people decide to mage-attack me, and a single run of theirs seems to put me back several days. I think we should either go back to the old hut fill rate (I would prefer this) or at least reduce the mage loss percentage. I don't think increasing the hut fill rate affects much, except those who need huts sometimes more than others and those being mage-suicided. There's no advantage netting-wise to building a ton of huts one day and tearing them down the next. Switching strats means getting bad racial bonuses. Mages who try to run with other buildings get a bad huts/land ratio. Right now, it's just annoying having waited many runs for huts that still aren't full after one guy decided to mage battle, and I'm only running a small proportion of huts. This would also help with mages being hit too far, and I think that's the way maging was meant to be,

It was implemented a year ago or more, but now playing seriously again, I realize the consequences. Originally it was meant to make mage more of a commitment, so you couldn't shuffle in and out of huts. But I don't see what harm that would do if you could. Whereas, those who need some huts get hurt badly when they get mage battled or if someone hits them too hard.
Originally you could fill huts in about 200 turns or so. Now it's more like 1000?

Yes well. Even so its terribly hard to fight with a mage. Gaining mages don't take that long of a time. A run is 500 turns and well, you should be able to gain back most of what you lost in terms of numbers in that run.
Now, if you couldn't take as much land when you attacked, that would indefinitely solve this problem. Even so with it as it is now, I can't really say its major. Since I often run around 1.5-2k huts on my accounts.

Even as it is mage is by far the most powerful strategy. If you made fill rates any faster you would unbalance it again. I do agree that losses for mage attack are very high, but given the hit limit, this is necessary for mage takedowns to have a chance at working.

Got any proof? I think it's not. Mage is nothing without indy support. Now, perhaps you could argue it the other way around too, but I'd say not as much. When you say mage takedowns, you mean suiciding with mages? That was meant to be temporary damage. I say revert maging back to the way it was in the old Promi and early FAF.Shadow I wrote: Even as it is mage is by far the most powerful strategy.

Other than both Shadow and myself claiming emp using the mage strat? Ok, Shadow wasn't technically emp, but he did land lock for a long amount of time and was on top at the end of every run. I also landlocked and stayed on top for the required 10 days. Though that was before they reduced the power of Leader Loot.Got any proof? I think it's not.

Wrong, I just finished spending almost 16 days with land lock and first place using mage completely solo and the only reason it wasn't longer was because I voluntarily stepped down. At the end of it I was making 2 bil cash per spell, even though I was suicided 42 times before doing my last run.Mage is nothing without indy support.

Take into account that mages need runes to work with and you'll realize that indy comes out with more troops and food while mage comes out with more cash. It's not that you can't completely solo one strat or the other, but it's less efficient, and in a more competitive game, it just wouldn't cut it.

No... Mage is the most powerful strat at the moment. If you plan on landlocking, you will mage if you were smart. Landlocking with the others strats are pretty much impossible cause mages can always mage battle the land away. However mages can't be mage battled if they are any good so they only need to worry about troop defence which they usually can cause they make alot of cash.

Only 2 bil? I would have thought more. I have to say, it is a bit slower than it should be... I wonder if this is a scaling issue...
I've been running turns on the BFR admin account. Seems a bit off.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, judging off what I was making when I had my landlock going. It would have been 3 or more without the suicides. I had to build back up from like 10m leaders on 300k land.
