To be fair, I was put off by the 2.x series, so if I'm honest, I haven't really looked at number 3, therefore my reasons were probably out of date... but I still hate the look of it, though, I imagine that's nothing a skin can't solve. Look at BitTraffic's forums for example of a nice skin.... But I don't like the idea of the "post/reply" etc buttons being on the left, rather than the right....... But that's down to personal preference.

IPB's admin control panel is the best I've seen, its clean and organized in a sane manner. Shame they went and started charging cash

RWL uses SMF, it works fine.
There's all sorts of converters for the old board data, IPB 1.3 was rather popular.
SMF's did fine with RWL's conversion, most people's sigs went odd formatting-wise and ofcourse the smilies all broke, but it went smoothly enough

PHPBB... meh.
I've never really liked it, it always just felt wrong. Granted I havnt played with it in years... but eh
Most of the sites I saw start off with PHPBB moved on pretty quickly, but that was all with version one or two

Forum modifications. There are loads of free ones that are designed specifically to prevent this. Look at ipbfree.com, same software, none of the problems.

What point? That you have no valid excuse for your lack of effort so you have to make blind attacks about someone you don't know? I am really resisting the urge to play with you by bringing up your little failed relationship, but you are making it hard.

And the 10 minutes comes from the fact that what it would take requires 10 minutes. There are single mods that can be installed. Upload it via FTP and install it. It's that simple. Or you could do something as simple as adding a question to registration such as "What is 2+2?". You do not need 20 or more, you just need one that works.
