OK, this is bull....
So, yeah, in all seriousness...
I'm in my 4th year of undergrad, except sort-of-not. I ended up withdrawing from my courses due to mental health issues. Yay! Anyway, I should graduate with a History degree next summer or something. From there, I'm thinking of going on into a MLIS. If not that, then some sort of grad school, I imagine. The real world is mortifying, amirite?
Started off in CompSci back in '06, but I sorta... drifted from that.
These days, I don't really do anything with computers, aside from, y'know, using them. Linux is lower-maintenance than Windows, I find, so I really am doing the minimal amount of computer geekery. Funny how one shifts over time...
It's funny to think that I haven't been around here regularly for 3 or 4 years, but I still check it out of habit. I don't know if FAF really has much of a future, but I do have some awesome memories of this place. As Freen says, it's kinda the old retirement home.
Sheesh... We've all gotten old. I remember when Janos was a 16 year old kid in constant trouble with the RWL admins.
Seems like an age away, now. Well, I suppose it was 7 years ago.

Better part of a decade buddy. Speaking of RWL, I still play over there. In the midst of an Emp takeover with Holbs and a few of the other elites in the game in reg. Doing pretty much the exact opposite in turbo. Trying to stop an emp takeover by Shadow there. That's pretty much the only promi I play these days. I had a brief sojourn at QMT at Death Eater's invitation, but that's about it. I have a lot more free time these days, now that I'm out of school. Not going to play FaF though... I don't like the land system.

Now I do wish more people played the game, not just the forums. And it's not just the land issue, it's a bit of a Catch-22 with low numbers and low visibility. Freen tried to get us all to play a while back but I think I forgot and idled out. We could do a Duels-type thing but nobody would notice. (Do they allow advertising at RWL now?)
I think FAF has a future as long as we all check here sometimes. Not the game necessarily, but the core community will survive a while -- hey, it's survived a few fads. That reminds me, what do you guys think about a Facebook group? FB sucks for things like discussions and it's pretty superficial in just about every way but why not?

:wq
We already have a Facebook group, don't we?
No one uses it, really.
The game may or may not have a future, but I do agree that the community won't quite die out.

I graduated from NCSU in may with an Electrical Engineering degree, been job hunting off and on throughout the year... more desperate of late as my cash reserves are now gone. It looks like I've got a data entry job back with Duke University, starts in a week or two or three, waiting on grant funding to clear... not my first choice, but hey. Easy job infront of a computer with a great work environment, it'll do for now.
Also, I think I told most of yall, but I was in a house fire on the 16th of Feb... woke up to a room full of smoke, ran out of the house in my tshirt and underwear. That's all I've got left of my stuff... years and years of data gone, all my backups were local. 15 computers lost, mostly old but all rather odd; they ranged from a Sun e450 server to a dalmatian G3 imac. Lost 4 dogs, one was mine. It overall just sucks...
I got 3rd degree burns on my feet and a nice 2nd degree burn on my left hand, hot tile floor and door knobs respectively. Was in the UNC burn clinic for about 5 days. 'Got full skin coverage now, so I can walk and type and such. I wear special thick pantyhose on my feet during the day that keep the blood circulating; my stamina isnt great, but I'm getting there. I think the doctors said about 2 weeks until I'm roughly back to normal, 6 months to a year before I can stop wearing the thick pantyhose and applying moisturizer to my feet and hand.
Overall I'll be glad to be starting work... distraction and income, I want my camera and an xbox 360 back. Insurance is just going to take a while, here's hoping they'll be fair.
I did go ahead and pickup a lenovo ideapad s10 netbook, thing is much quicker than I expected and the 10.1" screen is pretty. Fullsized keys on the keyboard is a major plus, though they did have to resort to some squashing... the right shift key in particular, but hey. It aint bad, and it'll do until I can build another desktop... or buy a mac mini, havnt decided.
Anyways, there's an update.

Holy crap, I missed the whole fire thing. That sucks. Side note, after my injury I seriously contemplated getting an EE degree, but decided against it because of the cost of degree, and the probability that I would have to work further from home than I'd like and more hours than I'd like. It still would have made me feel a bit better about the injury knowing that 10 years as an electrician wouldn't go completely to waste.
I know the voices in my head arn't real but they usually have some pretty good ideas.
