Darn this low turn rate! It should increase 1 turn every two days! Then we can end up with 200 turns per 15 minutes! That'll end Duels quickly!

It was chosen so kills wouldn't be too easy, but turns wouldn't be wasted (which is frustrating, yet an advantage to campers).

Well, low turnrate is all that keeps the three people teams from slaughtering us, though the same (to a lesser degree) for us against them.
