alright.
what i saw, for i played in this set of Capture the Flag, was a couple of clans brutalizing any and all they could. not just the flags, but other empires. which caused more than a couple of players to drop out.
now! it is, of course, a competetion in its extreme, but to kill other empires in its process? a bit unnessary. (if you ask me)

if i could of been allowed to hang onto what little land i had, not to mention my clan mates who were dropping like flies, i could of accomplished more and had a much more better time playing the game than i had.
i cracked Canada (maybe i wasnt first) and took 20k land or so from it. then! i was down trodden for the land(which is fine) but then! killing of other empires and of course, quitting happened more than that, and i ultimatly quit myself.

Why?
because being in the small clan i was in, i stood no chance to excell at capturing the flags. the larger clans would smite the smaller and ultimatly capture the flags in turn.
the stronger survive? the weaker dies?
i guess so.
but, to my point!
in this type of game and setting, one thing is apparent.
if you are in a small clan or are not, at least, a decent to good player, this game is not for you. what goal could you achieve other than surviving or getting land for the other clans to use? nothing would be my answer.

Just a thought.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

Even if you had to be in a large clan to win who cares? As long as you learn a little, improve your strat, and have fun then you have accomplished something. Better yet, if you play in a smaller clan then you will have more of a challenge. We all know that the more challenging the prom is the more likely you are to improve. Of the 5 flags all but the weakest was cracked by an unclanned empire, so it is still possible to capture the flag if you'r not in a large clan.

If the clans are going to try to win by holding everyone else back then that is in my mind a viable option. You can try one of 2 methods, hold them back or try to fight through their attacks and get the flag anyway. Or try something new and creative that nobody else has thought of. The point is to have fun and improve your gameplay, you can't do either one if you're not playing.

If you want to play again hit me up on AIM, we'll run together and try to slow these guys down. Hurry though, they're getting awfully close

ah! your terrible logic as always Polluted one.
i know these things and i cant get on aim, heh, im at work! *laughs*.
any case, the points you made were good and true. i see the logic in them.
its a contest to see who gets the flags and how they manage to do so is
all part of the game...right....

next set! look me up and we will do some schooling.

Steve when will you be on? Make an empire now and we'll see if we can make em work for it if it's not too late.

I certainly enjoyed it enough to play again next round.

i enjoyed it sure, however, if your up for suggestions, i would suggest making a set number of how many can be in a clan. like a 4 or 5 max.

nuke, i will recreate now. you will know me.

He's right, the set was too short. More troops on the empires next set should help a bit.

Could also put them in a clan with shared defense on.

Unfortunately I think we are too late to make a difference. I wish I woulda used my old empire to mess with people instead of making a new one. Oh well, good job guys.

Much more troops for the Flags (trust me, we'll be able to break them) and 3 people in a clan max.

I second that. We'll always be able to break them, eventually.

Ways to make them more challenging for the next round:

Clanned up with shared defense. Effectively doubles their defense. The only disadvantage to that is you can have a clan declare war so you won't have desertion but then again a solo empire can declare war anyway so it don't really matter.

Make them all Shrews for the added defensive bonus.

Hmm, just now thought of this but you might even make a new race that only the comp can use. Give it a huge defensive bonus and maybe a bit of a magic bonus too.

Give them the defensive hero.

100% GT

That's all I can think of right now.

Problem with all in a clan is that it's much easier to declare war on them; while I mean that to be more of a commitment. Also, as each player dies, 1. the others will lose troops and 2. by the end, the top one's defense will be much weaker than it was before with shared forces. Also, the lowest one will be MUCH harder to break. I mean the challenges to be more gradated.

Does a clanned empire with shared defense on lose troops when one of his allies is attacked?
