Um, hello there. I just started CoG today, but you might know me as Aedan Kingussie from the Vulpine Imperium, or Zagros Karanet, the 'arrogant oldbie' from the TSOR boards.

CoG's really quite fun. I decided on playing it instead of BfR 'cos I'm better at strategy, rather than fast 'let's attack people' stuff.

But I like to attack people too. And that, I suppose, is why I'm here right now.

...How do you do it? I fill in the number of troops I want to ship in, click 'attack,' and it says I have to do something with hawks. I click what I want my hawks to do, and it says I have to do something with the army.

Eeep. Help, please.
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Er, try saying "Send all". I do that all the time, and it doesn't come up with any problems. If your opponent is in another era you'll have to prepare hawks. You can see which era people are in by looking at the scores page.

Lotr rocks!

"Two" said Gimli, patting his axe. He had returned to his place on the wall. "Two?" said Legolas. "I have done better, though now I must Grope for lost arrows; all mine are gone. Yet I make my tale twenty at the least. But that is only a few leaves in a forest."

"Twenty-one!" said Gimli. "Good!" said Legolas. " But my count is now two dozen. It has been knife work up here."

"Forty-two, master Legolas!" he cried. "Alas! My axe is notched; the forty-second had an Iron collar on his neck. How is it with you?" "You have passed my score by one," answered Legolas. "But I do not grudge you the game, so glad am I to see you on your legs!"

There beryl, pearl, and opal pale,
And metal wrought like fishes' mail,
Buckler and corslet, axe and sword,
And shining spears were laid in hoard.

Another problem, chaps. Well, actually, it's not a bug, but it's rather annoying.

Whenever I perform an action, I lose cash. Is there anything I can do to combat this - like raise taxes or something?

Build Markets, sell troops, or raise taxes and build tents.

Also, get more land. More land=more workers, more workers=more tax money.
