Ideas that are to be implemented eventually; accepted suggestions.

in talking with another member on FAF, i had an idea that would be buggery to develop and even more buggery to enjoy! but, i figured i would share it with all just to see what anyone thought:

the basic premise is simple, triremes should be used to transport troops to far away empires in order to tear them apart and pillage however, due to game scaling it has given me an idea. in order for troops to attack other empires, they should have to be deployed in trirmes in order to do so. in essence, no one can attack another empire if they do not have any. you following? check this:

Swordsmen: in order to attack with swordsmen, you would need 1 Triremes for every 500 swordsmen.
Slingers: in order to attack with the slingers, you would need 1 triremes for every 425 slingers
Spearmen: for these: 1 triremes for every 350
Triremes: no triremes can attack soely on thier own and are ineffective for taking of land, they must be manned with atleast 50% of any troop type to attack on thier own
Spies: these can attack regardless of triremes seeing how they are getting to where they are going by means that no one knows. ;)

rip it apart or love it. let me know.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

well, say if someone in Europe wants to attack someone in Africa or in the Near East, they would have to take ships

How about ships, rather then spys, transport from region to region? For example, if I were in Europe, I could march to attack another person in Europe, but if I wanted to attack someone in North Africa, it'd take a really long time to march, plus supply lines would be way to long. Thus, ships would be required.

right! but even an in-country attack can be aided by ships. you know: coastal bombardment and flanking, maybe a bonus to every attack if triremes are included when it is an in-country attack.

It's a possiblity. On the other hand, it makes the game more complex, not necessarily a good thing for the new player who wants to just start playing without paging through a 500 page game guide filled with more formulas then a high school math course.

I quite like this idea.

However it will have to be shelved for now due to my leaving on April 3, and there's no time until then.

Still, later, eh?
