this is a joke right?Ruddertail wrote: A few things on basic game ettiquette.
1: Online attacking. Online attacking is generally considered very rude. If someone is sitting online constantly for hours, it is often excused, but unless that happens, don't do it.
2: Murders. While murders can be a tool to weaken your opponent or lower his defenses enough to gain land, large numbers of them are considered rather rude. Generally, keep it to less then 20, preferably about 10, with a landgrab or an attempt at one, to follow up.
3: Messages. Whether you believe it or not, proper spelling and grammer can be an important factor in the way people react to you.
If someone sends me a message saying "I've been hit very hard, could you
please send me some cash to help me get back on my feet" I'll be much
more likley to do it then if the message is "ive ben smahsd plz send
cahs1111!!!!".
In addition, it is part of general ettiquette to write messages that are comprehensible. I don't expect it to look like a college level english paper, but I do expect basic SPAG to be applied. A spell checker is by no means necessary, but it never hurts.
4: Threats. Threats, blackmail, bullying and the like are considered very rude and are a good way to make enemies. You blackmail me once, I'll remember that the whole set, or longer. A guy once blackmailed me. I never trusted him again. Even before he did other things to make himself seem untrustworthy, I didn't trust him. Don't theaten inocent people.
Sometimes it's necessary to threaton someone to get them to stop hitting you. When doing this, it's important to be respectfull. Shouting "Stop hitting me so hard or I'll kill you, you ugly jerk! I whish you would just die!!!!" will likley only provoke them to hit you harder.
If you must threaton somebody in order to get them to stop their attacks, do it something like this. "I must ask you to stop your heavy attacks on me. If you insist on hitting me so hard, I will be forced to retal hevilly, causing a war neither of us really want." This message is respectfull, gives them a way to back out with honor (to avoid an unecessary war), and still delivers your threat clearly.
It also makes your threat more credible. Someone with the power to do real dammage needs not shout and scream to get his point accross, because he knows his might will speak for him, if necessary, while the powerless rants and raves, because otherwise, no attention is paid to him. Appear powerful, not powerless.
5: Game Guidelines. If the server has game guidelines, they will often be linked in the game news, just below your warband name and number. Read these, and follow them. People will accept a rule follower much more readilly then a rule breaker, and constant breaking of game guidelines can result in you getting smushed, beaten, and otherwise taken to the very brink of destruction (if not beyond).
Following these rules won't guarrentee you success in all you do, but it will make your interaction with most other players much more pleasant.

Carbz, your conduct on the ME boards may be tolerated by Turock but it will not here. Yes, those are the codes of conduct. And they are not a joke.

and ur wondering why no one plays here?
Freen. I dont know who you are to be talking about me on the ME forums. I get as good as i give. Simple as.
Beatles. I dont need you give me advice on how to live my life, where do you guys get off on all this moral high handedness? iT makes me laugh, cos you are all a bunch of hypocrites anyway. When you guys are ready to be rude to people you will be, but because you all massage each others egos you think you are without sin yourselves.
I have no intention of staying here. The only reason i was remotely interested was beacuse i was in a clan with Gondor on Me, and he seems a cool guy. You lot need to stop with the 'j'accuse' before i even say anything, its a shame. I had no problem with anyone from FAF, but you seem to have me pigeon holed already. Perhaps you should read your own rules of etiquette, or add something aboput welcoming new players.

wow.
how did i criticise you? i asked if it was a joke and got told no. If you want new players to play, do you not think that perhaps people will question whether it is really necessary to run posts through a spell checker in order to play a wargame? I mean seriously, you must see that is a a tad excessive?
As i say, i havent criticisefd any one here, i dont have a problem with any of you, but you seem to know me and have a fully formulated opinion, you even go so far as to ascribe my reasons for posting.
That sir, i suggest is not only unfriendly but plain rude.
