I would vote for Obama because I think he would make a better president. The U.S. desperately needs change, I think Obama would be good. Due to the requests of no flaming, I shall not say anything about Republicans...

Of course I am canadian and thus not allowed to vote.

McCain. He's more experienced all round. Plus, I have reserves for some guy who comes out of no where with a truck full of charisma. Thats just odd. IF he was that good before, why is he just breaking into the spotlight now? Hell, I'd vote Hillary over him. At least we'd know what we're getting into.

Wowee!
just watched McCain give his acceptance speech.
not bad.
almost as good as Palin's.
why will i vote for McCain?
im conservative, i am for small(er) government, i believe in individual responsiblity, capitalism and free market enterprizes....
the usual row eh?
besides, Obama has less than four years experiance in politics and ZERO time leading or legislating.
McCain. well, he was not even close to my first choice, but he will do and since he brought Palin to the table. wowee.
i am impressed by her alot.

Artus: its okay to critize Republicans. they arent perfect and deserve critizism.
but! be aware that so do Democrats and anyone of any alignment.
and just because you are a ...dear lord help me... a Canadian (its a joke, dont take it personally) doesnt mean that i do not respect your opinion.
just please, try to make valid points.

darn!
i forgot one more runner on the ticket for the poll!
the Libertarians!
but dangit, i ferget who they are.
oh well, i have said it before, i am more Libertarian than Conservative and when they get on the up and up...maybe when i turn 100, then i will spend my vote on them.

Freen: I agree with you. (lord...what is going on with that!?) i would of picked Hillary simply because she at least has had her hands in the dirt a lot longer.
but! i also think that Hillary would of been unbeatable.

alas!
to bed!

Wait, why is this a "choose two" poll?
You only get one vote

As much as I hate to say it, voting 3rd party really is tossing your vote... and sucking support away from whichever you consider the "lesser of two evils"
I mean, its better to vote 3rd party than not at all... but being realistic, the 3rd party candidate stands a snowball's chance in hell of being elected and you're worse off if your more-evil candidate gets elected

As standard, I'm not happy with either choice... but the ideal people dont go into polyticks... or they fail to get the mass support they need. I find it curious how much a part the media is playing in this election. I'm sure its been a significant factor before, but near everyone I talk to has gotten all their information on a candidate from what's been on the television or newspaper. And generally they're listening to only one source, which near always has a visible bias.
Its kinda scary, really. The Media choosing the next president.

But eh. McCain / Palin for me.
Obama is an excellent talker, but he doesnt seem to say much of consequence. "Hope" only gets you so far, and can be interpreted differently.
Palin, although seemingly an odd choice, actually has Executive experience for what is the Executive Branch... why is it always Legislators that make it to the top Executive spot?
McCain? Eh. He was the moderate the republican party needed this round. Just far enough right to keep main-party support, while center enough to attract the swing vote.

As far as 'another Bush,' let me remind you that the 2004 elections were basically handed to the dems and they fumbled it with Kerry. The US of A elected Bush twice, he must not have been that bad... atleast his approval rate is currently better than that of the democratically controlled congress
Hobbs FTW!

that, my dear Death, is quite unnecessary and uncalled for and will incite flaming.
if you have nothing better to contribute, then i ask that you please abstain from posting any more comments in this thread.

Windy: sorry about the two vote thing.
i only voted once and i hope everyone else will as well.

oh, McCain speech beats Obama by 500,000 views: http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/09/mccain-rating-1.html

Palins speech was just under Obama's on viewers.

Personally I would have set the poll to have 1 vote for McCain/Palin, Obama/Biden, Any Third Party Ticket or Can't/Will not vote. But... That's just me.

I'm leaning towards McCain/Palin, as I tend to be conservative. They aren't perfect (in fact, I feel I should have voted for Romney in the primaries. His LDS/Christan fundamentalist leanings aside, I think he would have made a better candidate)... But they are an alright ticket. Obama/Biden isn't particularly bad, I just disagree most of the few policies they have detailed so far. That, and I don't buy the whole 'hope' and 'change' vibe they are trying to cast off. They are politicians, perhaps even more so than McCain. So.. I don't see how they will 'change' anything fundamental.

...Not to incite flaming, but a true observation. Doesn't Obama/Biden kinda look a bit too much like Osama Bin Ladin? Thats almost creepy.

As for my choice, like I said. I don't trust people who may be more charismatic than me. I'm not the same as an online thing, its more of a personal thing.

Not crazy about the Palin choice. I don't see the winning in that. Then again. the VP isn't supposed to really do much anyway. So I guess its doesn't matter. As for the accusation that "If McCain was murdered or was unable to fill his position, how could we let Palin who has -no- foreign policy experience in as the President? Well, thats a bit tricky. I'd think that Congress sets more of a policy than the President these days. Not to mention, I'm sure the numerous advisers are enough.

That is a crux isnt it Freen?
What Foriegn policy does Obama have?

anyways, Obama/Biden is creepy, but here is something to add to the creep:
Obama's middle name is Hussien.
just like Saddam Hussien.

McCain is not psychotic, though he was traumatized after his experience in the Hanoi Hilton.

Where's Bob Barr and the libertarians?

No, I'll probably go with McCain. Definitely won't go with Obama. Hope and change are good as such, but they're platitudes, not policies. What he has mentioned with policies are, quite frankly, scary. If they aren't pure socialist/fascist, then they certainly are in that direction - and definitely big government/nanny state.
