Wait, it wouldn't work for the house... Because all of them would have to come up for reelection every 2 years. We could attempt to make it so that roughly 1/4 of them reach their term limit every two years, I guess. Senate would run on their current system, 1/3 up for reelection every 2 years.

Funny, I always thought our government resembled The Three Stooges more than anything... :D

Speaking of the Congress and such...What kind of major impact would swithing to a unicarmel system make. I know that Michigan is trying do it. Not to sure if it's a good idea, but who knows?

I know the House is for the people and the Senate is for the country. (In terms of main interest in policy). But technically...aren't the people the country and the country the people?

Well the House and the Senate first got created because no one could agree on representation, so my first thought on the impact of switching too a unicameral system is that it would be huge. It's prolly alright for a state to do it, but I'd worry if the country did it.

That's why I was suggesting longer term limits for the House Rudder.

Yes, Minister is subtle, sublime, superb, superlative. Monty Python doesn't hold a candle to it.

*laughs*. I think that's going a bit far. Monty Python is a work of genius.

Monty Python started out funny, and ended up uninteresting. I think the forces that made Monty Python good comedy came out quite well in the previous and later work of John Cleese, Eric Idle, Graham Chapman and Michael Palin as well. Note works like Fawlty Towers (which I also prefer to Flying Circus). The offbeatness of Flying Circus, however much the Terries insisted, wasn't why people found it funny -- the combination of great humorists was what created the magic. When many members lost interest, it waned and became often shocking, but hardly funny. That's just my personal opinion, of course.

Well I suppose the later stuff wasn't up to the standard set by the first few seasons, but I would still, overall, rate it up there in my all time favorites. Maybe seeing "Yes, Minister" will change my mind, but that's where it stays for now.

BTW, read the Orwell thing. Great article. Thanks.

Orwell: sure.

If do think your opinion will be modified by watching some Yes, Minister. We'll see.
